I'm curious on other peoples' takes on this. Obviously, this kind of experience is traumatic for any child and it would not be at all uncommon to suffer nightmares afterward, even into adulthood. If Lloyd is an adult when he is dreaming, then it would explain how some modern pieces made it into the background. The end chapter would certainly make a lot of sense with the terror of constant gunfire. Afterward, if his city was ravaged by bombing, little of his previous childhood would have survived - even the park where he used to play. It is also likely he would have spent some time in a hospital after his rescue. Or, he may even have been a prisoner in a concentration camp - he would have seen desperate, ill and starving adults, would have gotten his head shaved and been assigned a striped shirt like the one he wears in his nightmares, and it is likely he would have arrived there via train. Lloyd (which is an English name) may have lived in England while it was being firebombed (which would explain the city chapter). The theory that jives most with me is that Lloyd is working through past trauma related to a childhood during the second World War. There was a little bit of modernity in the train station (like the turnstiles) but for the most part, objects look vintage. There is electricity, but it is often broken or sporadic.

Destruction - homes, cars, all covered in rubble and debris. The fact that the game is set in a dream world allowed for the exploration of various game mechanics that wouldnt make sense in any other settings. Emaciated, disabled, undressed adults (in wheelchairs, or with their eyes or faces covered)ĥ. Train imagery is obvious in the one chapter but train cars and items appear even in the other chapters.Ģ. What I see in this game is repeated imagery throughout all chapters.ġ. I've always enjoyed taking games like Limbo, Braid and Little Nightmares and trying to link story elements together into a cohesive story. Obviously, there are potentially as many interpretations of the story behind this game as there are players. I just finished the game, and first of all, kudos to the devs.
